  • Peacocks losing colors

    i have a bunch of ciclids in my 100 gallon i baught a bunch of different peacocks and they have all lost their colorsto almot female looking i know when their not the dominate fish in the tank they will lose their color but is there anything i can do to maybe a little of their color back?

    What else is in the tank with them? Have you checked your water parameters?
    So many things can be a mystery, when all we're seeking is freedom...

      Where did you get them? There are a lot of peacocks sold locally from the far east that have been treated with methyl testosterone to make them look like males.

        they are males they have lost theirbody colors but their fins remain the same color the water is almost perfect

            If they're hormoned they won't lose all the color at once. I've just seen it so much that I have to ask.

              Are they young?  Typically a mature specimen will not lose his color, just lighten up a bit.
