  • Weekend feeders

I'm going out of town for 10 days and was wondering if my mbunas will eat those weekend feeders or what do yall suggest I do. I don't have anyone to come by and feed them every few days.

Thanks I think I just read my answer. I Google Drive it and it said to do nothing if it's only for 1 to 2 weeks. So I think that's what I will do.

Holding female don't eat for 2 weeks, so I think it's okay to not feed them for 10 days. They'll live.

However, an autofeeder is not a bad investment.

I use automatic feeders on my Mbuna tanks when I am out of town. They have worked well. I have several different ones, but I make sure they feed at least twice a day.

The only thing about that is a lot of the food goes into the filter if you feed them when it's running. I like to turn my filters and pumps off when I feed

If they are too hungry, they might kill and eat somebody.

I always feed with filters on. Mbuna is fast eater. Food is gone before touching the bottom.

Same here. I have auto feeder and set to feed once a day or once every other day.

Agreed. I have never seen food make it to the bottom of the tank or the filters. My Tanganyika tank is different though.

My Mbuna killed a fat regular pleco and ate him because I didn't feed them for 1 week while away for work.
