    Re: shellies tank

yeah you could put a lot of different fish in there. it would be hard for a different tang though. sorry about that cyp misshap J that sucks. i was just thinkin of more upper swimming fish that dont grow too big.since cyps dont use rock cover much. danios or neons should be fine with the shellies. though neons usually prefer softer water then the shellies. but another option could be like praecox rainbows. threadfin might get a little chewed but citypets has threadfin rainbows 2 for 3 dollars. its worth a shot to me, maybe because i love threadfins, and shellies   plant wise there are lots of options. Vals do well in sand but usually grow kinda tall. i have crypts in sand too and they are doing fine. also you could just weigh down some anubias or java fern and place it among the rocks. also what kinda light do you have on the tank and what alge eaters do you have. because some work with plants and some dont. i just like to have plants in every tank i can  but yeah it looks great.

      Re: shellies tank

It is probably really hard to be purely tangs just because its still a small tank. I probably try some tropical ditter fish, hopefully something that looks "tanganyikan-ish". From what I've seen, kinda like the danios types. but we'll see.

Tiapan, thanks for the advice on plants, I know nothing about them. I like the look of anubias and some vals would be nice too. we'll see what I can do.
I dont know about the lights. I picked up a 48" strip at the warehouse sale last saturday. No algea eaters so far.

look what found in front of the door when I got home.

I think cichlid-breeding made a mistake and shipped my order twice.
so I paid for 36 shells and got 72 !!!
well, that only means more shells for the multis !!

Yeah I am a big fan of the 18" depth on a tank.. I just dont like the short 12".....  I dont think it gives the tank the nessesay depth it deserves when you are landscaping.

Also... make sure if you are going to put any plants in there, you plant where there are not any shells.  Those particular fish do dig...and uproot ANY plant that is keeping them from cleaning house.

I like the addition of the rasbora.  You may want to look into Anubius nana "petite" though. That guy will grow out of your water in due time. The pictures are great! I love the FTS.

Probably regular nana. Regardless, I think Anubius was a wise choice.
