  • Brichardi 'Daffodil'

I may be looking for some male daffodils in the near future.  My female has accepted the male I put in there, but only as a friend, LOL.  I'm thinking of putting some competetion in there.
Does anyone have any with real nice coloring?

I have to admit, I have a very attractive couple of males and I would be willing to let you use one in  trade for a couple of future young.  Where are you located?  FYI, my males are HUGE.  The only condition would be that if an intense aggression issue occurred, I would wish for him to be removed. ;-)

How large of a tank is this "competition" going to occur in???  You could be heading for trouble if the tank is too small because once the group gets "going", they will overtake a small tank with the quickness.  Once that happens you really run the risk of members getting ostresized pretty quickly which is never good.

The tank is 55g & all theirs (other than 2 clown loaches, 2 pleco, and 1 syn.). There are lots of places to hide in the rocks as well.

Someone told me that they don't think a female will bond with another male after losing her first mate... Is that true??

not sure about females... My original pair ended when the female jumped out of the tank one night. The male bonded with another female that I got from Prosper about three months later. I don't see why a female wouldn't bond with another male.

I have personally not heard of this either.
The Brichardi family of fish are colony fish and they are used to the fact some fish come and go over time (from being eaten etc)
Only the the adults at the top of the hierarchy are the ones who spawn so what has been seen in the past the once a female lost her mate, she was relegated to a lower rank in society and therefore didnt spawn again because she was no longer the "alpha" female.   This could be the reason some will say they will not partner up again.  This is not something seen if she can become the alpha female again.. She will partner up and spawn again.

Oh, that is SO good to hear. That one guy had be scared saying that! She is definately the alpha in the tank, hehehe.
They kicked the one (of the four) little ones out. I'm guessing it was a male. Everyone else seems to be getting along fine.
I have my fingers crossed... Maybe I should but on some romantic music for them and install some moonlights.
