The Ectodus descampsii are in he 150RR with the Benthochromis tricoti... looks like I'll have to start another thread for them just to appease you Geoff.   Maybe I'll just start an Ectodus thread and you and Rob can post anything that you find out about them as well. I am having trouble finding a great deal about sexing them.

          Sure thing.

I should only have to wait another week on the first group of fry.

I changed my mind on Ventralis.  I think they would interfere too much on the bottom.  So I decided upoon Cyps.

I was thinking a 1M/3F group of this...

              Ophthalmotilapia Ventralis Whitecap Kipilli

Still not sure which cyps I would buy.  I think I may just wait for the babies!!

Cyps dont have that many in each ...umm.... "clutch". (Is that what you call it?) If you want some any time soon, you may want to go ahead and get some yourself. If you don't mind waiting, I'll be sure to oblige.

On a related note, the Julies must have felt outnumbered and are undertaking a strategy to even up the playing field. I just saw several Julie fry swimming around.

That is one of the more attractive ventralis that I have seen. It sounds like a good idea to get cyps instead. how about another tank for the ventralis? I know you've got plenty of room left in that apartment.

Several of my females are coming close to full term now, so I added some fake plants on the surface to for the females to spit the fry into. Cyp fry are pretty large (for fry at least). I'm hoping that some of them will survive this way, and I won't have to pul them out. We'll find out. Any thoughts about this?

I placed some of the fake plants on the left side of the tank, but the cyps seem to stay away from it. I couldn't figure out why at first... then I realized it was becausethe Julidochromis had had another batch of fry. There are now three different sizes of fry swimming all over the rock column on the left hand side of the tank. It is fun to watch.  :)

I have always had fish that may have seen cyp fry as food at first, if you do want to seperate them, it isnt too hard to get the females to spit, you just have to catch them (thats the really hard part) but with lots of floating plants you should be fine if you let them take to full term. it takes a while for them to spit on their own, be patient. im excited as well because i have another female (blue neon cyp) holding and now that i know i have a tank safe for the fry i cant wait for the little ones to get ready.

                              Tim,

The last time I was at your place I moved the 210 into the new place, and then a couple of weeks later I came over and you had just put it together...  there was not many fish in there and you where talking about what you where going to do.. Let me put it this way.... you had two female Bemba sitting in 10G tanks holding fry on your kitchen counter the last time I was there... and I recall asking you what was your wife going to say about you having fish on the counter again after you had said you would stop that.. and you said she was okie with them...

Yes its been a while... I have not seen your WC you got from College Station / African order either... :)

                              Keep smiling :)

                                Tiapan-

I don't have the time to catch the cyps out of a 210. I would have to remove all the rockwork in order to accomplish this. If you want, feel free to come over and catch and strip the female cyps. I'll let you catch as many julie fry as you can as well. I'll even let you have some as compensation.

                                Zulaab-

I forgot that it had been that long. I just remembered that you came over and helped me move the tank and I was pretty certain that you came over once after that.
