Understandable.  The occies in my tank steal the show, hands down.

        Re: 200 gallon Tanganyika tank

Went to ultimate fish today and they didn't have any of the shells available but lots in their tanks. After talking to the guy their about the fronts I asked if he would sell me some of the shells from the tanks and he did! After coaxing some brevis to come out I picked up 8 shells but when I went to pay for them a brevis came out of the shell! The girl there ended up letting me have whatever else was in there cause they wouldn't come out so I got two maybe three free brevis!

Also bought a piece of driftwood out of their pleco tank and the guy gave me a discount on the shells cause I bought so many.

Well tim looks like I'm on my way to having a harem of shelldwellers!

other than size... I notice no major differences in the occelatus that I have. The male puts out a little more of a "shine" and the female usually looks a little paler. not sure if that is just courting or mood behavior though. I'll take pictures on Sunday afternoon.

Current contents of my Tank: 6 occies, 3 leleupi courtesy of eklikewhoa (two purple and one bright orange), 2 cyps (found 1 on the floor), 1 burundi frontosa. I'm currently looking to find some Cyp. leptosoma "neonhead" if anybody knows where I can find some. Thinking 18-24...  Still looking for a good deal on petricolas too.  I'm gonnas transfer my two comps from another tank to this one once I get rid of the frontosa.

By the way... is there a good way to tell between male and female leleupi? One of mine started "dancing" yesterday. I'm thinking its the male.

                  Re: 200 gallon Tanganyika tank

the leleupis when i had them at first believe they spawned, it was the really dark orange one and the pale one but the pale one seemed more dominant. they guarded a little hole under a rock but other than that im not definate.

check out fish ranch and ultimate fish for the petricola's i saw them there but dont remember the price on them, probably call ahead of time.

with your occies i have read females have the white tip dorsal/anal fin and the males have none or orange tipped. can you observe yours to verify so i know it would be great so i dont end up with too many of one sex, thanks

If I recall correctly, there may have been some down south at a store on Almeda Genoa @ Kleckley. Unfortunatley I don't remember the name.

yeah... it was fish depot that i was thinking of. I looked at my occelatus for aq while, but could tell any different coloration on the tips of the fins. If you decide to mail order some, I'll probably go in with you. I'm having trouble finding any cyps (at a fair price) in Houston.

Hope you enjoy fencing, Tiapan. I'll reseal your 20L if you give it to me so you can put some shellies in there.
