Well, we're stuck with the wood. Its the exact layout thats questionable. I think some simple plants will help too, but we are not going to invest time/money into co2/soil/ferts.

My crypts, java fern, annubias, and hygro are growing fine in a sand substrate with no CO2. The only thing I do is add a little excel every few day just to give them a little something

Which fern/moss grows in the cracks of the wood? Darbex, you have a current picture all those plants/wood in your tank, so I can get a visual?

The Hygro are the tall plants at the rear they have grown more bushy lately since this pic. The ferns are attached to the driftwood on the left. The annubias is attached on the right and the crypts are in the center

All the plants in my new little planted tank do no require substrate and are low demanding plants minus the HM.

Either way those discus are smoking hot!

If I find some small enough I'm gonna get some for my NC6.

Well you were there when we got them - 100% of the praise goes to Dan! Give me a month or so and I'll post up some new FTS's and see if they're any improved.

                  I'll post pictures tomorrow!

                    • LOL. I tried, and had no success with trophs in a 90.

Besides, its not fair to them - unless its a fry grow out!

You should close this thread and start a new one in the SA Forum.. moving it isnt going to be the best idea as the start of the thread is about African's and then later it becomes a SA tank..

Very true. I never really thought about it that way.

Okay, the days of Africans in the 90 gallon are over! To see the continuation of this tank's life, go here to the new thread in the Discus sub-forum!

(Mods, please lock this thread - thanks!)
