ok, I loved it! Does anybody know what the one cichlid was called that had dug a pit so that the catfish wouldn't do the swap and steal with the eggs? That was one pretty fish!! I'd have liked it better if they'd given the names of the fish....

it was a cool doc. i think the part with "the gang" rushes the breeding pairs to snatch eggs/fry was cool or the part where they bombard the colony. freakishly cool

Ya I dunno what kind of cichlid that was that dug its breeding pit up on the rocks to prevent the syno multipunctatus from hijacking, but since it adapted its mouthbrooding breeding behavior to the synos, all I assume is that it's some sort of tropheus.  I haven't been able to find any more info about it.

My favorite part was when the emperor cichlids were fending off the turtle.  Brutal!

The fish that made a pit on a rock is Cyathopharynx furcifer.

The ones that had nests in the mud were Neolamp. tetracanthus and were being raided by Lamp. callipterus.

Hmm... what about that cichlid that impersonates its prey just to snag some scales off of it?  Is that a tretocephalus or sexfasciatus preying on frontosa or something?

I've been wondering about that for a while...

there was no fronts in the doc. it was the elongated fish that has the pattern of a front. cant think of the name right now.

Well done aVG.  That's the first time I've ever heard of the Plecodus straeleni.  I would hesitate to keep one of those w/ any of my fish LoL.
