Re: 55g Tang fish questions
Any of the following will work:
- Calvus
- Cyprichromis
- Cylindricus
- Leleupi
- Julidochromis
- Shell Dwellers - with an adequate amount of shells
Ultimate Fish would be a good place to stock up if your looking just for Tangs. Alex has got a good choice of tangs all at varying sizes.
Not sure if your Brichardi's are an active breeding group or not, so numbers may vary.
The key is filtration. Always, no matter how many gph you think will be sufficient, double that number. This number should continue to increase the more you stock your tank.
After that, just weekly water changes or more, what ever your schedule can bare.
Good luck,
J

Re: 55g Tang fish questions
hmm yea definitely looking into some calvus and cyps. i could move the julies and multies in my 20 over to the 55. would feather fins/xenos be ok in the tank? since they look pretty awesome. and zulaab emphasized last night that his brichardis breed like crazy

Re: 55g Tang fish questions
55 is small for featherfins, IMO. That 12" depth is the limiting factor... I'm not saying that you can't do it, just that it wouldn't be ideal.
If you put brichardi in the 55, be prepared to either remove the breeding brichardi or ALL other fish. They get pretty mean once they start breeding.Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

You can add anything really. As long as they stay small everything should be cool. Now if you are asking in the long run, J gave you some good fishes to pick from. However, the brichardis will breed and take over the tank. They will kill or keep the rest of the fishes on one side of the tank. Those fishes can be monsters.I ate my fish that died.

Re: 55g Tang fish questions
If you are trying to determine what type of cyps you like, look up the genus on Cichlid Forum. That way you can browse the species pictures to see what you like.
I started a thread documenting what types of cyps are currently in Houston - it is in the African cichlid section.
BTW, I have one brichardi in each of my Tang tanks.Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
