    Re: Cyps breeding

Well at first I figured it was the xenos, but I watched the calvus hunt down all 5 that I had in there.

I think deep down inside everyone who owns a calvus wants to see their fry get eaten......

Probably. It was cool the first time, and that's was it.

I've got 3 Black Calvus and love them.  I got them small, around an inch, and two bigger ones are around 4 inches.  They are so cool.

They share a tank with cyps, featherfins, sm. group of Trophs, bristlenose and gobys.

            Re: Cyps breeding

I might have been just a little impatient...  it looks like one female has becoming a holding female today..
Question one.. she looks like she is holding eggs but I know from having looked at cyps before you can usually see stuff though her thin membrane mouth.
Her mouth looks like its holding something.. but I dont see eggs though it.  Is this normal ?? as they grow they become more visible or are they visible immediately ?

              Re: Cyps breeding

It's not uncommon for cyps to capture an air bubble from the surface in their mouth and make it look like they're packing. Mine do it quite a bit. If indeed they are packing, you will soon be able to see a number of yellow eggs.

okie.. she is hiding the rocks she does not like to come out at all.. which is something normally does not do...   I will check again here in a bit to see if she is still holding the airbubble or if she is holding something else.. I will check in a few days to see if I can see eggs.
