Is it a must to have algea growth for Trophs?

No a must but doesn't hurt to have it.

The algae present does lets them exercise their natural instinct to graze and it helps.

But on the reals, if you watch marsh or this site occasionally these lights will pop up used for a little more than a 1/3 of the price. I'm assuming this is what ek did, or just another one of those secret asian 'hook ups'

Man D, you keep asking for stuff that is already hard to come by moreless on the asian market.

Now if you settle for less then you'd be flooded wit stuff you don't need.
