  • Botia Histrionica

I was looking for loaches last weekend and found these . . they are Burmese loaches, aka Gold Zebra loaches. I think they are cute.

those are very cool looking loaches. We used to get them at HAW when I worked there. they tend not to eat MTS as much as other loaches though.

That brings up a good question - what is the best small loach for eating MTS? (Clown loaches get way too big)!

From what I've read, the best for mts are botia kubotai (burmese border loaches), botia almorhae (yo-yo's) and any of the Syncrossus loaches (tiger loaches)

The baby botia kubotai look just like the baby botia histrionica, so I'm not really sure which ones I have!

                Botia Histionica? - Updated

The pattern on the loaches has changed in the past few months. Here is an updated photo of the same fish.

hey I have those same loaches. They change color pattern b/c of stable tank condition I think. I have them with dwarf loaches, zebra loach, and bengal loach. they are getting along and keeping MTS in check. My suggestion for MTS loaches are zebra and weather loaches but nothing beat assasin snails.
