  • efficient loach on MTS?

what loach would be efficient loach on MTS?
i know assassin snail is the best...but in this case assassin simply can't be in the tank because of the puffer...
how efficient is clown loach? or some other ones that is easy to find..

Loaches can work. They have never worked for me bc I feed a lot and they eat fish food before mts. If you can somehow feed the puffer but not the loach then it could work.
I ate my fish that died.

Clown loaches or yoyo loaches will work but if you got it bad, nothing will stop mts.

+1. I had zebra loaches and they hammered the snails hard. But the MTS bury down into the substrate where they are safe and cozy and only get eaten when they get caught.
On a good note, MTS can do some real good in your substrate by keeping it turned and aerated.
Another way to get out MTS is by hand just before lights come on (they should be all outon the glass).

clowns aren't as good for mts imo. the best are any of the true botia species (kubotai, almorhae or histrionica) or any of the syncrossus species (tiger loaches). are you willing to risk the loaches with the puffer?

the situation is not that bad...just a whole bunch of little ones now...
that's why i want to somehow control it now...
i am not sure if the puffer will eat the MTS too if there's big ones in there...
but now there are only tiny ones, the puffer wont even see it...
the puffer will not go after any fish so loach will be safe in there...
for some reason i think clown loachs are ugly...so which LFS has some botia species in stock?
            thanks.

I use queen botias and clown loaches.

All my tanks are MTS free.

my big clowns don't touch mts, they do love ramshorns and pond snails though. my kubotai shuck them like corn though.
