  • Pleco breeding question

Just recently started my aquarium back up. Wanting to get a breeding pair of pretty Plecos, but I do not know what water temp, alkalinity etc for them to be successful, also where I live(Beaumont area) there is not a selection variety. Location of good shops in Houston area. THANX!

This varies by the type of pleco that you want to breed. Some are easy to breed (BN, ABN) and some are quite difficult (zebra)
    Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

Well like I said There isn't a big selection where I live, just the standard Pleco(my descript). I really like the Gold Spotted and the bristle nose.

I know TangoMike successfully breeds the albino & BN. You might want to hit him up for some insight.

You can't breed regular plecos in an aquarium. They are too large and build caves in the sides of river banks. If you are looking to breed a pleco, start with bristlenoses. There are plenty of varieties and they are pretty easy to breed.

There are quite a few of the smaller specialty plecos that will breed in the home aquarium.

Try planetcatfish.com (they'll tell you everything you ever wanted to know and more!).
