  • Plecos don't need water

I drained my 30 gallon tank on Tuesday and I didn't think there was any critters left in there. Today I went to move the tank and I saw a bristlenose in there that was apparently hiding from me when I took the spixi snails and another pleco out. So, I grabbed the net to get out what I thought was a dead fish and it started flopping around! There was a little bit of water in the gravel and I guess he had just enough water for his mouth to be in and survive. I thought this was the craziest thing ever that he didn't dry out and die.

Wow. He's all kind of tough...how's he doing now?

He looks to be okay. I put him in the water and he swam to the corner and hasn't moved too much since. He's only been back in the water for about 2 hours so I don't want to bother him too much, just let him rest.

No doubt. He's had a tough week! Well hopefully he'll pull out of it okay...and have a great story for all the other fish! )

2012-06-24_15-45-36_978.jpgIt's hard to tell in this picture but this is how little water he was in. You can kind of see the water line on the front. He'll be able to impress the ladies with this story lol

Whoa! That is, like...no water! Dang.

And for real, if I were a female pleco I'd dig that story!!!

That's crazy! Goes along the lines of something I read about if you come home and see your Pleco has jumped the tank, even if they seem dry, at least put them in some water and see if they revive.

I guess I could see it happening as long as the humidity was high enough. It's a survivor that's for sure!

Nice pleco story. Good to know about them drying out and still living. Course, they have to escape the cats. :P
