  • Chocolate Longfin Ancistrus

Well, just got this cool little guy (or gal) today and was wondering if anyone here has experience with them. I am looking them up online and I am confused because some things say Longfin Bristlenose and other L-144 and so on. So what EXACTLY do I have. Maybe it is just because it is small, about 2 inches, but its body looks flatter than an ordinary bristlenose. Any info or help would be really appreciated. I do know that a Bristlenose is a Ancistrus, but I am just confused by all of this. lol

Each and every pleco has an L#. It's just to help sort them out because there are so many different species and families of plecos. There are also common names to them, just like any other fish.

They also have albino L-144. Generally they get about 4" max. There are some that can get on the larger side but I've seen very few.

Yeah, they had some albino ones as well, but honestly, albino fish have never done anything for me. :/

I don't really like the albino L-144. I like the ABNs with the blue eyes though

I don't really favor the calico ones. The only ones I like are the reg L-144, ABN with blues eyes, and the super red ones

                        Brandon,
What you have is a chocoalte long fin bristly nose pleco. Because it has a recognized common "trade" name it no longer has an L number. Any of the care for it can be found by looking up bristly nose plecos. the albinos and the browns are different varients of the same species. L144's are a different species and are refered to as blue eyed albinos or black eyed albinos
