  • Question about my Dwarf Giraffe Cat

Just got a DGC and put him in my African tank, and well, he and my large Featherfin Syno do NOT get along. I was wondering if I could put him in my Mudskipper tank with 3 LARGE African Mudskippers. Or do yall think I should just give it some time and let them find their own territories? I just put him in today. Thanks for any info given.
65G African Tank (1 Ropefish, 1 Senegal Bichir, 3 Spotted Climbing Pearch, 2 Black Calvus "Zebra", 1 Featherfin Cat, African Knife, 2 Upside down Cats and an African Butterfly Fish.

30G "The Mudhole" 3 African Mudskippers (Periophthalmus barbarus)

20G 4 Longfin Zebra Danio, 2 Julii Cory, 2 Bolivian Ram, 1 Stripped Raphael and 3 Glass Cats.

I bought 6 of them a 3-4 years ago. Only problem they did not stay dwarf too long. 1 year later they were 12". Depending on how big your tank is I would let them work it out. If you have a glass heater becarefull because when they start wrestling thing get broke. Breakers get tripped and fish die...good luck

yea I just saw your tank is a 65gal. If you don't over feed them like I do, you will be good. Keep him hungry and working the substrate.

K cool. Yeah thats the main reason I got him to work the sand. Hope everything ends well as I probably could not find a better vacuum cleaner from Africa!

my featherfin is pretty aggressive toward other catfish and only other catfish. she's always beating up the pleco or chasing "powder" my albino channel cat. i'd keep an eye on things.
            my fish house:
            2.5g- ramshorn hatchery
6g eclipse- yellow shrimp, chili rasboras, yellow apple snails
29g- geo grow-out, angels, 12"fire eel, dwarf frog, apple snails
45g- jade sleeper gobies, native killifish, feeder endlers

            75g-
2 oscars, parrot, silver dollars, albino channel cat, syno euptera, bichir, baby jaguar, convicts, yabby
            125g- fahaka puffer, rainbow shark
            and about a dozen bettas....

I have never seen a giraffe cat get beat down. I would say it would be a mutual respect thing. It could be fun to watch. Depends on the size.

Question about my Dwarf Giraffe Cat

My featherfin never bothered my giraffe but there again, the giraffe was also double his size.

Giraffes are awsome, but every year or so your having to find a new home for one so you can get a smaller one.

LOL I have been away all day and just came home to this. I am about to start taking bets! In all seriousness though, looks like the Giraffe has found his own part of the tank and no skirmishes have erupted today (as far as I know). I do believe he did his job last night sifting through the sand since the tank was murky as all get out this morning with silt stirred up!

So true. i gave Alex 8-9 back over the years. One of them at his store broke a heater, tripped a breaker and killed 20 Troph dubs monsters and himself. I have not had one in a few years maybe it's time? NAW not yet.

But, I love me some giraffecat. MBU puffer and a giraffecat in a 200gal is easy street fish keeping and entertaining as it gets.
