    Re: Shy clown loaches?

    Hey Mzungu -

All I can find out about the bandtails is that they can grow up to 3 1/2" large, and they are also known as spottail tetras, and they are from Paraguay. Do you have any other info about their behavior, or anything else? I am concerned about them getting too aggressive with the little ones.

So far they just chase them a bit - they seem to be more aggressive towards each other. And they eat anything they can - not including fish!

    Thanks!

Sure, I'll look at my books and such when I get home this evening, and look around today a little also.
I have 7 of their relatives in one of my tanks (Red Eye Tetras, Moenkhausia something), these guys were among my first fish to ever have. So, now they're old but still scrappy as heck, and quite set in their ways! They're going to remain in that tank, alone, until they pass on. They're great fun to watch, never a dull moment, but now that they have their own tank they won't welcome any visitors. That said, I'd keep an eye on them, but there shouldn't really be any problems with the other fish. When mine were in a community setting they were civil, and pretty much kept to themselves. And yes, they eat EVERYTHING! I love them for it (except for the fact that I can't grow some specific plants in that tank, as they are perpetual nibblers)!
