Positive identification

I want to see if anybody here can give me a positive identification on this little pleco I have.

I bought it as a Candy Stripe Pleco, but reading up on them I found out that it could be a Clown Pleco. The websites I have found tend to say something along the lines of "Once you know how to tell them apart, its fairly easy" but then don't tell you how to tell them apart... I've been wanting to do this for awhile now, but today was the first time in a long time he came out into the open while I was sitting there watching them. Usually when I walk into the room he scurries to his hiding spot, so he's not avoiding the light, just the people.  :?

I see the picture as the page loads but then it dissappears!  :?  I haven't seen any picture for a couple days. Maybe it has to do with the outage.

I see him, maybe it's his nocturnal nature and he disappears when the monitor light hits him.

Could be either of the two u mentioned, or maybe a tiger pleco?

Looks close, at least? But I can't tell from your pics if the dorsal fin is similar...

Those two sites are the main reason I thought he might be a clown.    It seems that yall think the same as me, so now I'll call him a clown!

That's funny! As I was looking around, those pictures actually came up when I clicked on "ringlet pleco." But, hey, if it's the same scientific name, that's all that matters.   :)

looks like my clown, does he grow slow? and is he territorial? if so: you got a clown.

The one in my tank has grown about 1/4" in the last 6 months, and one of my favorite in characters.
