emerald corys are emerald corys. Though synodontis are catfish, they're not from the same genus or family and are also found in a different region of the world.

But the scientific name is syndo of the emerald or is the tag just wrong?

Huh? The scientific name for emerald corys is not synodontis lol. Synodontis catfish are from the opposite side of the world. The scientific name of emerald corys is Brochis Splendens. The Brochis genus is basically a bigger cory with more dorsal rays.
