Re: Plecos, can i give ppl the knowledge?

rasping is the grinding of the wood with the bony ridge in the plecos mouth. Basically it is him sanding away at the wood for the wood fiber.

So, I would need to get some driftwood - correct? How long does it take to get that "conditioned" for lack of a better word, before I get a BN? Believe me, I am in no hurry. Just taking my time.

There really is no conditioning. It's the wood itself that the bn needs. Think of it as a nice big salad for that little guy to go with that algae steak he just polished off. Go with a piece of soft wood, not grapevine or ironwood, let it soak to the point that it sinks on its own, and thats all you need.

Scott is correct about placing the driftwood in with the pleco, but royals need it more it is their diet. Since clown plecos are part of the royal family - they need wood to chew on.
              Plecos:
              L083 (Gibby)
              L104 (Clown)
              L147 (Peckoltia sp.)
              L155 (A. Hystrix)
              L310 (Red Fin Bruno)
              LDA72 (BN)
              LDA76 (False Zebra)
              Rineloricaria parva (whiptail)
              Rineloricaria lancelota
