bulkhead

while installing a valve on the bottom of this 210 project I over tightened a clamp. this put the bulkhead in a bind and it made a loud pop.the nut slipped down 4 or 5 threads. I tightened it back up and inspected it for a crack on the nut but did not find one. I don't see how the nut could go down on the threads and not crack the nut. has anyone ever experieneced this?

Plastic gives so you could have "sprung" it over the threads.
Double check the threads on the bulkhead and nut and then try pulling out on the nut itself to see if there are any hairline cracks.

brushing some baby power over the threads might help reveal any hairline cracks if they are present???

thanks ya'll. I been thinking I could unthread it. it won't come all the way off but I could inspect it easier. if this is not cracked those nuts are Tuff.

I already glued in a pair of 1" 45's. but I could unthread it and see if it's cracked. I think it just jumped threads and I got lucky. It tightens up real good....????

It doesn't need to be that tight.
