  • HELP! Inline Sump Return Pump Seized Up

My Lil' Giant has seized up. I'm not quite sure what's happened because it was working when I turned it off to do a water change.

I need advice on how to fix it, places I can get a used one for as cheap as possible tomorrow morning, or someone who has one.

I need something that moves at least 850gph - that was this model's rating.

    THANKS!!

Have you taken the impeller out and cleaned it to make sure there is no gravel or sand in there? You might also try marshreef for a used one.

I'll try that. Thanks! My head's disconnected tonight. I don't get on Marshreef. If this doesn't work, I'll just have to hit some LFS's in the morning I guess..

Sounds like a problem with the impeller.... like al said take it apart and you'll see what is causing the problems.

Well, I'm going to bed. I didn't get to take it apart - I'll do that tomorrow.

And yes, for the record, I did beat on it. Twice. )

Al, I never saw your post but thanks for the heads-up. I ended up finding a used Iwaki 600gpm pump for $30.00 bucks at Fishland. Its not Cadillac - but it will still take me into town.

I took apart the Little Giant and found that it had seized. Thanks for all the help everyone.
