Prime vs Stress Coat - Your Opinions?

The best tap water conditioner? I have been using PRIME and STRESS COAT when I am out of Prime for my Discus. I add the tap water directly in to the tank during a water change while using PRIME. is there any thing better?

Ive been using Aquaclear as a conditioner, and haven't lost a fish yet. I use just a touch more than the directions call for though, and after i add salt.

from reading around seems like prime is the most popular. but i have well water so......

I only trust Kordon's Amquel+plus and NovaAqua+plus.

Besides that I use a Carbon filter to filter out impurities before it hits the tank. This has allowed me to do 100% water changes with 0 problems.

I use Prime and it's been good to me. I'm running low and have been thinking about switching to Amquel, but why mess with something that has been good to me?? :)

Ek when using your carbon filter do you add any dechlorinator, just to be safe?

I have chlorine up the yang, ammonia(chloramine) showing up and flipping the charts at my place.

It was good when we signed the lease but we moved in after Ike and it was all over the place. I use the carbon bottle only but sometimes the water feels funny on the skin or has a little chemical smell and I hit it with Amquel+plus as well.

Cheap insurance compared to what I have spent on livestock.

Please do tell. I would like to know. I do not need any HORROR stories with my Discus Investment. Is there any thing on any forums? Sorry not trying to be rude I just want to be on the safe side.

I have read tons of stories about fish dieing after large water change with the use of Prime. I have seen it happen on a few accounts here were large water change was done using prime.

I use to do 70-100% using Amquel+plus and NovaAqua+plus only and never had a single issue for over 15yrs now. Some people swear by it but some of those people know they have had issues where Prime just didn't cut it but for the price they will deny it.

If it were a single thing to use it would be Amquel+plus.

I often rotate. I used StressCoat for the longest with no problems, but now I have been useing AmQuel Plus for about 3 months. Sometimes I use StressCoat when I run out of AmQuel. There are no fish stores within 30miles of me...so sometimes I gots to resort to what Walmart offers.
