Just don't understand how you cannot get it lower. Maybe it is the humidity. It is 106 in Austin right now and my tanks are all at 78.2 to 78.5 degrees at 4 pm.

Its 100% garage insulation. I have zero.

As for the humidity, per Weatherunderground.com you have a higher temp, dew point, and relative humidity than I do, so it definitely can't be that.

84 F at 4pm. I guess that's the best I'm gonna get folks. I'll see about insulating the garage door next payday.

Still strange. I have the cheap metal builder garage doors and I can see daylight through one of mine. The garage temp is at 100 right now, but tanks are holding steady.

Did you try the fan on the sump instead of the tank?

No, I'm going to get a third fan and try that next.

I am running four fans, one on the sump two on the swamp cooler and one circulating in the garage with it cracked open and temp is still 82 F, I even added a Hi C jug of frozen ice, still at 82. I probably failed to mention that Iam running a mag18 on a huge 3x2x2 sump, Iam sure the mag 18 is putting alot of heat out. They are coming inside tomorrow, so it doesnt really matter, just dealing with the bloat as of right now. NEVER NEVER AGAIN will I do this, other people have had luck, I dont know what I am doing differently, but my fish are my kids and I dont want to have any sacrifical lambs so to speak. Not at my ignorance.

Keeping the garage door cracked is a bad idea. Too much humidity, which kills the process.

Good idea to begin them in, but not everyone has that choice.

There is a used chiller someone is selling for $160 on CL in Austin. Looking at it, they go for $900+ brand new. Just a thought.

its only rated for 50g tank or smaller, thanks though!

we started today at 84 degrees. doing another water change later and dropping in the frozen 2 liters throughout the day

I pm'd him. Debating it. Money's just a little tight right now though... I might consider breaking the tank down.

You should maybe try the fridge idea. Just run tubing from the sump to the freezer (try to get as many coils in the freezer as you can) and then back into you tank or sump.

Depending on how many coils of tubing you can get in your freezer the better it will cool

If you can find a free working fridge with freezer then it might be good to at least try it out

I don't have space for a fridge or freezer, or else I would definitely consider it.

Nope. If I get my way I'm probably going to sell all of them. I'm sick of the trouble and hype around all this fish-keeping mess.
