  • Odyssea Tanks

i have a couple ?'s about Odyssea Tanks.

i have the opportunity to purchase a small brand new Odyssea Tank, i think its a 16g.

anywho, i have heard some good and bad things about these tanks.

    pro -

    1. rounded front edges are very stylish and clean to look at.

    con -

    1. i have heard that these same pretty seamless edges give the tanks a tendency to crack, break, or leak.

    pro -

    2. they have built-in lights which are more powerful than the regualr flourescents.

    con -

    2. i have heard these same nice built-in lights have problems over time such as catching fire, shorting out ballasts, and overall short ballast life.

    pro -

    3. they have built-in filtration much like biocubes.

    con -

    3. i have never really heard anything bad about this.

i am looking for persoanal experiances.
if you have had or do have one of these tanks, lmk what your experiences have been like.

I have a 20 cube that I use for the kids tank in there room. The tank was all glass with a seamless front third. The tank is great, the lights on the otherhand were built verry cheaply. There was no real ballist that i could fint for the 2 cfl's. One of the CFL's stoped working and when i took apart the light i was not suprised to see a verry poorly designed hood. Other than that the tank has been great.
People who stand for nothing will fall for everything.

I don't know if indeed Oddessea is actually the manufactuer of those tanks? But I can say that I have heard the same in regards to their integrity.

If you get the tank at a bargain price, then the risk would be minimal, go for it if indeed the risk is not that high....

Fishlady had one for a year or so, and it was a goregous tank and held up fine for the time she had it up and running.

      Good Luck

I was given a ~40g Odyssea tank by BEdward. The light and fan had broken. The lid had been warped by the heat of the light. The filtration was in pieces by the time that I got it. The tank still holds water.

I rigged up a 2217 and mounted my own lighting... and it works...

I got the Odyssea tank at the only price that I would ever pay for it... free.

Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.
