Mag 9.5 return hose

I was wondering, those of you using the Mag 9.5, are you running 3/4" ID or 1" ID back to the tank?

either or.....I think it's a matter of what fits best on the return port of the pump....which i believe is takes a 3/4 inch fitting....but you can use adapters and reduce or expand to whatever size you like....me, I would probably go with 3/4...if you reduce the hose too much you put extra pressure on the pump...that could make the pump run hotter than it should...but, I'm just guessing about the pump running warmer.

Well, I've tried both, I started with 3/4", but I understood that I would get more GPH with larger hose. It certainly seemd to increase the overall flow through the system, and made it harder to keep the level in the tank any lower than 1/2" below the very top, even when I lower the inside box on the overflow to the very top edge. I have an eshopps 150 with the pf 1000 overflow. I also noticed it is somewhat less "gluggy" sounding when using the smaller hose.

I just wondered if anyone else has noticed these same things and what you ended up with.

The output on the 9.5 is 3/4". you can adjust your over flow up and down. I like mine lower in the tank with the water flowing smooth. not high with the aggressive fall and all the air bubbles. just play with it. I think the pump will only pump what it will pump so 3/4" is good. 1" should just be a little slower and mellow flow.
