  • white film on glass

    i have white fillm on my 55 gallon and wen i scratch it it doesnt come off what is it?
    210 gallon ~ S/A, C/A build; jaguar, dovii, flowerhorn, gold doviI, 2 red devils, pacu, shovel nose cat
    125 gallon long ~ African cichlids
    10 gallon ~ ghost shrimp breeding (fish treats) haha

    is it around the rim? probably a hard water stain...i wouldnt worry about it

      no its in the aquarium in the water like someone got clear gel out it on a sponga and pressed it on tank all of the the front inside

          you know wen you do a water change and you get water on the outside of the tank and it dries it kinda looks like that

            yea, thats a water stain.....right??....I know what youre talking about now and i have the EXACT same thing on my 20...doesnt really bother me too much

              sounds like a water stain or a calcium deposit .... good luck on trying to remove it...

                you can drain the tank and try the following,: vinegar, a razor blade, and one person told me to try oxyclean. I had that happen to mine and never got it off. just painted that side and used the back (which was clear) as the front.

                    If it is calcium sulfate (gypsum , may also Ba , Sr, Rb ) it will not be (reasonably) soluble in water or acid. Then a blade may be the only reasonable choice (Hot formic acid being unreasonable) . Is there any chane is is an etching ,ie, hydrofluoric acid.
