  • Random water cloudiness - suggestions?

The 56 Gallon I have been cycling randomly became cloudy and has not cleared up. I checked the water conditions and everything is within the desired range. The tank has an Eheim 2227 W/D for filtration since I set it up 4 weeks ago. The only differences are that I evicted the Goldies I was using to cycle it on Wednesday and performed a 20% water change. I did treat for ick and added API Stress coat. Aside from the eviction I have done everything the same since setup without issue before. The water has become cloudy after water changes before but never has it stayed that way for days. Open and welcome to any ideas. The only difference I can finger is the absence of fish and I don't think that is the issue.
    Thanks in advance

That is what I was leaning towards but I was looking for more experienced opinions. Given that the water parameters appear to be in order would it be safe to start introducing new fish?

+1 normal, nothing wrong, give it time...... slowly introduce new fish , like 1 or 2 then wait a week and add 1 or 2 more and so on.

In addition, you should add another filter for mechanical filtration if you can...that Eheim 2227 wet/dry is meant for mainly biological filtration.

I agree I am leaning towards the Eheim 2215 for mechanical purposes

I was wavering between the 2213 and 2215. Petsmart has them online only for $79.99 and $109.99 respectively. The additional capacity seems to justify the difference in cost. Plus it would enable me to buy a larger tank without having to buy larger cannisters if/when I do go bigger

You can never over filter. What type of stock you planning on keeping?
