HELP! Brain Dead

I have 3 tanks now; a 10, 20L and 55 and I'm spending too much time cleaning filters and changing water. I would like to get an outside filter (think they are called 'wet n dry vacs?) but I can't for the life of me find the kind I used back the 70s in my shop and LOVED them. It has a glass bottom and you put some kind of white powder in it before you started it up. I've been beating my head against the wall and STILL can't think of the name.

This is some kind of filter you're talking about? What kind of shop did you have in the 70s?

Yes, a filter. You sat it on the floor in front of the tanks and ran it a couple hours and the water was crystal clear and most of the poop and stuff on the bottom was gone.

I have a 50 tank pet shop that sold reptiles, birds and grooming services. In Pembrook Pines, FL.

It sounds to me like your referring to a Magnum's polishing filter that used Diatomacious Earth, the kind used in pool filters....excuse my spelling please, but that's the impression I get...?

they (magnum) sill have that filter available I believe....I'm sure other vendors have something similar as well...good luck.

I have a few diatom filters and parts - the old kind that use a glass jar.

Magnium also makes a diatom conversion for their HOT filter canister.
