  • Substrate / Gravel

It's been a while since I had to buy any gravel. I'm setting up a 35G, and I'm looking for neutral color (brown, tan, etc.) that is fairly small in size, although not as fine as sand. I haven't had to buy any in several years. I seem to recall buying a bag of exactly what I'm looking for at Fish Ranch II that came in some pretty thick paper packaging. What I'm looking for is something very cost effective, but still safe and attractive.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Eric

I have about 15 pounds of white coarse gravel that I can't use if you want it. I live and work in the Meyerland area.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

I have about a five gallon bucket of natural color gravel, pretty small stuff but not fine in any way. Free, come get it.

          Hey guys,

Thanks to both of you for your generous offers. I was pretty finicky as to what I was looking for, and I found it at Houston Aquarium Warehouse. Dustin was extemely cool to me, and I got exactly what I was looking for.

          Regards,

Did it have the thick paper packaging? I'm still stumped as to what it was that you had previously!

OK, so I did finally manage to find the bag in the garage. It's actually filter "sand" for a swimming pool filter, although it's really gravel as opposed to sand. Like I said, I'm pretty sure I bought it at a LFS a few years back, because there's no way I would have ever known to buy this stuff. The next time I'm in Home Depot I'll see if they carry it in the swimming pool maintenance section, just to see how cost effective it is.
