For me the problem is in the durso pipe inlet, if you can remove it and check the flow in your sump.

The vent hole is at the top of the stand pipe in the overflow box.

Most likely the mags are too strong. I got the same problem right Now. I have a mag 18 on a diy wet dry and the pump is too strong. Looking cor a mag 9 now

The mag 12's and the pipes have been running with the old owner and they were fine. It's gotta be the lines.

I think the sagging line is causing that too.

Jesper, what pump are you running? I'm sure not 2X mag 12.

I am running a pro/clear 175 with a MAG 12 using AGA stand pipes (1" down 3/4" up) and I have a sump for a 400g tank with a MAG 18 running on it with 1.5" down and 1" up.

The Pro/clear 175 with the MAG 12 is the one that has the sag in it.

Yea see that cut tie wrap where I picked that drain hose up? Geoff needs a shorter drain hose from leslies PS. Maybe a few more slits in the stand pipe. It's a easy fix and on that tank both pumps need to be running.

Maybe you could use pvc pipe out of the drain on that one side. I would do both. 2-45's would be better than a 90. run the pipe 2ft from the w/d and get a 2ft flex hose to the w/d. You could get some u-clamps and screw to the wood on the back of the stand to support it. If you want you can call me.

                      here is the funny part....

The sagging line on the left is the one that drains very good and only has about 2" water level in the overflow.

the line that is more taught on the right, is the one that will not drain. That overflow box is completely full. I have removed and drained that line so many times, I know it is not plugged on that side.

I think I need shorter hoses for sure, but right now I am stuck.

The only possible I am thinking now, is if somehow my return is leaking back into the box.

I am going to check my return is properly sealed.

I am with you on that! Good to know we can get shorter ones.

I also like the idea of making more slits in the stand pipe(s)...When ya comin' over, John?

This picture tells me both outlets drain about the same amount.

My guess is the return line thru the overflow with high water level has a leak that dumps water back into the overflow before it returns water into the tank.

Well, I'm not gonna even look at this thing again tonight, lol, but I know that one of them actually was draining less than the other.

I think your guess about the leak could be correct. We're thinking it would have to be around the bulkhead somewhere.

Geoff switched the Mags earlier tonight (turned off the one connected to the overflow that wasn't draining properly and turned on the other), and guess what? Both overflows are now not overfilling.

And then the hose fell off...

                            Sigh.

I dont get it really. I swapped hoses around after the hose fell off...then all now seems ok, but Ihave not started the second mag12 yet

when he turned the one off was water flowing back down through the pump? if so then you have a leak some where in that return , right?
