  • MarineLand LED fixtures

hey everybody, I just got home and had a pretty good day! Went into to CityPets today and bought one of the 36" fixtures for my new(used) 210gallon tank...they only had one. I then went down to Fish Gallery and purchased another one from them. I want to say THANK YOU to all the help at Fish Gallery...I know you guys were slammed today and still did a great job helping me out. I will also say that Fish Gallery's fixture was a bit more expensive compared to City Pets, but the guy that helped me did price match for me, so that was a big plus. NOW...onto the review of the lights. The lights did NOT light up the 210 very well at all with one on each side. However, if I were to get 2 more of them, so that I can have 2 on each side, They look really good in my opinion. I will post a pic in just a second. I spent around $300 for both fixures today, so if I spent a total of $600 for all of them...that still is around the same price for T-5 or PC and WAY cheaper than MH.

Those lights are nice looking, they have a sleek futuristic look to them. Plus being that low profile the tank remains the center of attention. Looking forward to the pics

In this picture, the LEFT side of the tank is a 250w 15k bulb and the RIGHT side of the tank is 2x LED fixtures

Maybe it is just the picture, but to my eyes the LEDs look like they produce a softer more natural light. Based on the picture my vote goes to the LEDs

Also, I asked today and found out that these are "throw-away"(meaning you can not change out the bulbs) fixtures and are expected to have 17,000 lifetime hours of use. Thats almost 2 full yrs of light when running 22/7. And if ran for 8hrs everyday...will last an expected 5.8yrs.

FYI, this fixture only has 16 LEDs, and non-dimable.

When I looked at the fixture I thought they should have put more LEDs on there.

But then again, those LEDs are not cheap. And they product a lot of heat.

I think this is a good fixture for a shallow planted tank.

you like the look on the right side of the tank...or no. Honest opinions needed. These lights give a really cool shimmer to the water just like a MH. Each LED is so strong that you can see the rays in the tank and I like the look of that too...it looks like real sunlight rays penetrating the water.

You shouldn't even have to ask! I been about LED for about 6 months! Trying to tell others about it but they just ignore me.

I'm still trying to make a DIY one for my SW tank. or just fork out the cash and get the elos LED light.

                              You need more LEDs.
