Never got a chance to post these pictures. The battery came in a days after I post the last post.

I took some pictures to share with you guys the new vortech battery.

As always, ecotech did a good job of packing it and the battery is in perfect condition.

I have been using this for around 2 months. Lucky there has been no power outages. I did do a test run and the think works like a champ.

    The box

    Opened box

    battery outside the box

    Battery itself

The casing is very high quality. The battery inside is very heavy. Once again ecotech did a great job with design and function.

Did I miss something ? It looks like a small regular (sulfuric/lead) battery, like you could buy at Walmart for 1/10 the $ (based on amp-hr). A solar charger would be good; a NiHydrid battery would be good.

Nope, you're not missing anything. It just cost that much cause the sticker on it.

So I don't see what's new about it... the old design also allowed you to run two MP's... did they change the battery or something?

Thai's detailed description made it sound like they increased the quality in the packing material. )

The label is new... from the link only thing new is the included $10 cable that had to be paid for before and it says upgraded charger allowing "longer run time".... how can a charger be able to exceed the battery's actual run time?

From my past knowledge of charging/discharging of batteries it depends on the batteries actual capability to hold a charge which would then define it's run time. Now there's the small difference it makes when it comes to at what mAh the battery took the charge or is capable of but that requires one to actually test each individual battery and dispose of those that accepted the charge at too high of mAh (these would provide the highest output for the duration of "runtime") and only keep those that accepted at a lower mAh(which would provide the little extra run time but sacrafice output). Now all this was with multi cell battery packs and to accomplish the end result you matched up the cells that were similar and made them into on pack which would give you the outcome of either longer run-time/lower mAh output or shorter run-time/higher mAh output.

              Label looks fantastic though!

Well at least you only paid $25+shipping more than what the old one's went for...

I didn't mean to sound like a crumudegeon: 30 yr ago , in "basement" country I had a battery back-up sump pump, with a trickle charger, this seems similar . Except with much smaller pumps. My 1/3 or 1/4 Hp pump would drain a car lead /acid battery in < 2hours of running. The "deep draw" batteries would last longer.
Mostly lets hope for no severe hurricanes.
Along those lines; maybe everyone on FB could hold their breath 24 hr (not exhale CO2) for "earth day" ?
