Electrical storms and copper pipes.

The article states that after electrical storms copper is released from our copper pipes. I was wondering if it's enough to harm our fish.

I would be worried about inverts before I worried about fish. Invertebrates really don't tolerate copper at all. (I think most products that are sold to get rid of both algae and other inverts, like snails, are copper-based.)

As a corrosion specialist ( NACE #1635 ?), I think the summary is :don't over soften water, it becomes more corrosive. And , if lightening strikes your house plumbing , you may have a problem . I have seen lightening perforations of gas/oil pipelines and it is VERY rare- don't worry about it.
