  • Coralife 2900 Circulation Pump - Review

I purchased one two weeks ago at City Pets sale for $60 regualr price $90

    First impressions...

Really large piece of equipment, and the suction cup does not stick real well. It does not stick very easily to acrylic but it after a few tries I finally got it to stick.

Very easy to install once it sticks, and when I first plugged it in, it was LOUD as all get out. It took about 4 days for it to quiet down some I guess from run-in time. It still has a decently loud hum to the motor, but it is not noticable across the room like it was when first started. Now you have to be up by the tank to hear it.

The flow is extremely strong and focused. In my 10ft tank where it is installed, I can see flow effects up to 8ft. I can feel the flow at 4ft fairly strong still.

So to sum it all up, if you dont mind a little noise, I would say it is a really good flowing pump, and I would buy another and recomend it.

    Hope this helps...

    Geoff

At the widest part it is a little of 3" in diameter, and 7" long in the tank suction cup to end

I still prefer the modified Maxjets from Algae Free at 2100 gph, but the algae free mods quality is not consistant. I have had some last over 3 years with not need to replace the mod, others have only lasted a couple months.

When I got the Coralife I saw the aqueon's and I actually thought wow...same damn powerhead just different name.

              I might actually try them.

The Sun Sun's are junk is what I have been told by Honkzz (Andri)

They are louder than the magnums that Randall has. I have not put my hand in his tank to fell the flow, so next time I am over there I will make a comparison.

the magnums may be big and ugly...but they blow!!! If they could put that kind of flow in half the size powerhead it would be a perfect world.
