  • Americle wet dry sump size question

Hey I know size matters here. I have an Americle wet dry sump that is 24"long x 14" tall x 8" deep (front to back). Is this big enough for a 90g with a Mag 9.5 or is this sump to small? If this dont work, John you gonna have to come out to Waller and help a brotha. .

This sounds good to me, even a mag 7 will do.

How much water drains into the sump will be dependent how how low your return line is compare to the water level.

Just drill a little hole right under the water line and you will be fine.

You been out too long. That w/d will handle a 150 or more easy. Some good mechanical filtration and you are set. You been to the world news thread in the lounge yet? check it out. Good to see you back!!!!!!

Put blue bonded pad on the drip tray for some mechanical filtration. You can put some micron pad on there, but just stay on top of changing it out because it will clog fast

I have seen this question appear a few times before, so I thought I would give a simple way to calculate the answer for any setup.

The top of your aquarium (I assume) is 48" x 18" so the area would measure 864 sq. in. The top of your sump is 24" x 8" so that area would be 192 sq. in.

If you divide 864 by 192 you get 4.5. Therefore, if the water level fell 1 inch in the aquarium the water level would rise in the sump by 4.5 inches.

If your overflow is set anywhere close to the right level, you have nothing to worry about.
