  • How to get rid of hardwater build-up on equipment

I am in the process of breaking down my 55g, before I move, and most everything is covered with hardwater 'crust'. Is there ANYTHING I can use on the hoods and top edges of the tank to ease the process w/o harming my fish when I put them back in? I found LIME-OFF online but not sure that would do the trick or not. The inside of the tank is fine.

Thanks for looking and will appreciate any info/assistance you might have to offer.

    HAPPY 4th!

try vinegar and a razor blade...use a vinegar soaked paper towel and lay it on the bad areas until they soften and then scrape with a razor blade....rinse well with water after you are done...good luck with the move and thanks for the fish!

Thanks, Steve. Is there any difference between the white and cider vinegar? One better than the other for this?

All I had in my cupboard was the cider vinegar and it's working like a charm. Thanks so much for the info. Now.....if I could just find someone to do it for me I'd be all set.
