  • Aquarium pump drifting and making noise

Any veteran aquariast want to share their simple and inexpensive solution to this problem? My air pumps drift over time until they come in contact with something and then the noise rises exponentially.

I have tried a few things with moderate success but I know this bunch has come up with something better.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

150 gallon - my African cichlid monster tank (I know it isn't a big as yours)
17 gallon - Threadfin rainbows and corys lightly planted
5 gallon - planted red cherry shrimp breeder

I actually just don't use air pumps on any of my tanks b/c of the unsightly bubbles.

But you might be able to stop it from moving if you put some filter padding under it.
I ate my fish that died.

unless its in my wet/dry, i never use air pumps, i dont like the look of bubbles in my tanks...but just put it on a kitchen towel or a rubber mat. I used a pot holder for mine.

        +1

I use either a folded up hand towel, or some filter padding.

I agree that the bubbles are awful. This is the tank at my office (where they like to randomly kill the a/c on the weekend). I figure the aeration is another line of defense. Some good tips here. Thank you.
