  • Need suggestions for cannister on my 150

    I have a 150 gallon tank with

    Eheim 2217
    Eheim Ecco Pro
    Wet / Dry

The tank is setup for Malawi cichlids. Rock, gravel, and a few artificial plants.

I am contemplating replacing the two Eheims with a single, larger filter.

    Any suggestions?

150 gallon - my African cichlid monster tank (I know it isn't a big as yours)
17 gallon - Threadfin rainbows and corys lightly planted
5 gallon - planted red cherry shrimp breeder
3 gallon - planted red cherry shrimp breeder

Your choices are going to be quite simple . Either the large Eheim Classics such as the 2262 or the 2260 . You can also go with the Fluval FX5 .

      Needs only one ehiem 2260.

For fun I would get 3.

2260 and wet/dry would be great.

Eheim is the best for quality. But you can't beat the FX5 for value

Maybe someone would trade an FX5 or 2260 for the two Eheims that I have....

The current set-up you have is not bad at all.

Any reason why you need to change it?

Personally, I would run 2 x eheim 2260/62 plus the biggest wet/dry I can fit under the stand.....but that might just be me.

We are in the same team. I will go with at least 1 big canister (2260/2262) and a wet/dry rated for 200g, if you can fit an extra 2260/2262 that should be better for you and your fish.

My reason for changing it is largely to eliminate the extra inlet and outlet from the tank. My wet/dry barely fits front to back under the stand.
