  • "best choice" brand new canister filter

I am shopping for a new canister filter and came across one from "best choice products" I found them at amazon.com and ebay. They say they are a new brand. Can't find much info on them, but I am thinking about giving them a try on my 56 gal column tank. Anybody ever tried or heard of them?

They look like Eheim Pro ll "knock - offs" . They are probably Jebo / Odyssey filters packaged under a different name . These filters are made of cheap plastic and are very easily broken . I would never buy a filter that is sold and advertised with a "leak tray" . I would suggest that you steer clear of imitations........it may look like an Eheim.......but it won't have the same quality or durability of the legendary Eheim . I understand that it's a little cheaper than the Eheim but remember.......YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR !!!!! Trust me.........save your money and pay the extra $40.00 bucks and get yourself a filter that has proven itself in this hobby . Personally , I would stick with any of the big three.... Eheim...Rena....Fluval .

Well said Dave, I second his opinion

Not Fluval, unless you are in need of an extra door stop.

Either Eheim or Eheim. Can't go wrong unless you get an eheim thats broken. Oh wait, they dont ever break.
                    Just get an eheim.

You guys are your Eheims...lets all jump on the band wagon and put a ridiculously expensive filter on our overpriced Tropheus tanks...lol.

Eheims are decent filters but they are big and bulky and...GREEN. They stick out like a sore thumb in every tank I've ever seen. They are a b!tch to clean and super heavy. I'm a big dude and it's heavy for me.
For my money I go with the Fluval FX-5. It's an AWESOME filter for so many reasons.
On a small tank, I would choose the Rena XP3
                      If it ain't wild caught
                      You ain't doing it right

the fx5 is the only one id consider. another good thing about ehiem is that replacement parts are more readily available.
