I get these for cheap as heck from my work, I wanna try one out, does.anyone on the nw side know how to hook one up?

Can you get more or what? Set your desired temp and crank the heater. Plug the heater to the controller and the controller to the wall. Drop in the probe either in the main tank or sump. Done.
