Sorry MJ the actual size of the intake tube is 27 millimeters. So just a tad bigger than 1". And 1" being 25.4 millimeters. So if the hole is in fact 1" exactly it will not fit. I have a intake tube laying around if you want to come by and see if it will fit in the hole. Cause it sounds like you want to know if it will fit before you purchase the filterCustom Aquarium Cabinets Justin Henry 281-739-8723

No need to apologize here. Technical is what I was looking for. Turns out the holes are 1 1/8+, so I think I'll be good. Just looking to beef up my mechanical filtration on this tank. I have a sump with a ton of media so I'm not too concerned with bio. I currently have an xp3 running, but it just doesn't seem to be keeping up. I just need to decide between the 2262 or a fx5...Originally posted by jhenry View PostSorry to get all technical and all

IMO the FX5 is a better mechanical filter and much easier to clean the the Eheim. The only problem with the fluval is it's ability to suck in sand and ruin the impelor. And they are half the price than a Eheim. Don't get me wrong I only own Eheims but I think for the money the fluval is a better filter.Custom Aquarium Cabinets Justin Henry 281-739-8723

yeah it's 400 for a 2262, or 200 for a fx5. I've been looking for used 2262's here in the frisco bay area for almost a year and have yet to see anything. These filters are not popular out here for some reason. Either that, or everyone who has one doesn't want to part with them...

Thanks man, that really is nice of you. I think I may check out the fx5 though. My primary need is for mechanical filtration so I'm thinking I'll try this first. I may take you up on that offer at a later date though!Originally posted by jhenry View PostWell I'll do this for you next time I see a used Eheim come up for sale I'll grab it for you.
