Just moved into another apartment built by the lowest bidder. The tank has to go on carpet. Problem is a lovely tilt to the front. After i filled it up the first time i noticed a difference of at lest 1/4" in water level from front to back. Double checked with a level and my heart sank.
Normally to level i know to just use a shim, but my stand is this one http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...ductId=2752311

I'm not sure i trust shimming particle board on carpet, and it's a 75G so I'm pretty sure the stand is stressing enough.

So would you trust the stand or not

I don't see why you can't shim a particle board stand . The link that you posted does not work for me...but I've had particle board stands before and I have shimmed them on carpet without a problem . I say shim it up and enjoy your tank . :emt_thumbs:

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

I have one question? How close did you place the tank to the wall? The reason I ask is there is a carpet tack strip which is about 3/8" tall if you placed your tank on the strip on it that might be your problem. I find it hard to believe that the floor is that out of level. But if that is the case I would recommend placing a strip of 1/4" plywood along the intire front of the stand so there is no undue stress on any one part more than any other spot

not close to a wall at all. Its near the kitchen island (easy access to a sink.)
