  • RO/DI waste water used in cichlid tank?

I've come across a bit of info regarding this subject, but I'd like some input from HFB. I have a spectra pure 90gpd ro/di water filter and my waste water is just that, wasted. I was wondering if I could use this in my peacock tank. Seems like I'd have better piece of mind using that, rather than using water from my garden hose.

There is a similar thread about this the title is "RO/DI waste water". My guess is you should ask the guy who posted it if he did it and if it was a sucess...

It should be fine to use. Since the typical rejection rate of RO systems is 6:1 the increase in hardness is only around 1/6th more than what the tap is.
Better to use the water than dump it down the drain, IMO.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

+1 why waste the water and I believe it will be much better than tap due to the fact that it's already run through micron and two carbon blocks
