Depends on what you plan on keeping in the tank.

        stocking wise,

the suggested on pg.1 is good info.

IMO/IME 10-20x turnover rate over filter media works best for me.

20-40x turnover/circulation total rate is ideal.

I don't keep trophs but most of the setups I've seen do have an insane amount of filtration, especially since the fish are fed often and are messy eaters, and since they get to breeding condition with excellent filtration and frequent large water changes. Most of the setups I've seen are running canisters plus a wet/dry.

General rules in tropheus/petro keeping 101:

If you got room under the stand for another filter...you are in fact under filtering.

P.s. thank you for searching. It's also a good idea to ask people what they are running on their tropheus tanks.

I had 2 fx5s and a 175g rated wet/dry on a 125g when I had my tropheus set up going. Still did weekly water changes of 75%+...

                          my 180g

                          2x FX5
                          175g rated wet/dry

Looking into either trading out the FX5s for 2262's or just adding two more 2262s cause I has room for more and upgrading the wet/dry to a homemade one of 55-58g tank to allow for more water.

Initially I wanted to build a new stand so that I could fit a 100g 5ft tank underneath along with the 2xFX5s

The custom stand allows for a lot of filtration!

after setting up my past 125g to my liking, this tank just seems like it's lacking. Once I get a job I plan on adding mp40w's to it and doing the additional canisters.
