Canister Filter Cleaning

I have 2 each 2217 eheims on my 125.

I broke one down, cleaned it and put it back on line two weeks ago.

How long should I wait before cleaning the second filter?

I've set a calendar reminder at 30 days.

Why two weeks? When I clean my filters I clean both at the same time.

You can clean both at the same time. Just remember to use the water from your aquarium to clean them. To be on the safe side, you can put Seachem stability or any bacteria additive afterwards.

I do nothing of the sort. I just don't rinse the heck out of my media. Also remember your sand and rock also have bacteria in them too.

Also I rinse my sponges and blue pads and floss with regular tap water

i put my bio media in a bucket of the tank water. then clean the mech(sponges or whatever you want to call them)in another bucket of tank water. I figure the more bacteria in my canister the better..

My mech media couldn't be rinsed in a bucket I rinse my floss for several minutes.
