  • My Driftwood is growing 'fuzz'!

    OK, problem number 2.

I just got my 2217 hooked up and running, turned on my lights and noticed the tip of one piece of driftwood has this funny 'fuzz' on it. It's white and about 1/2 long. Anyone have any idea what it is? Would it hurt my fish? How do I get rid of it?

It isn't harmful and commonly occurs on newly introduced driftwood. Some people brush if off while other introduce algae eating fish that may or may not like it. Neither method necessarily prevents it from coming back. It will go away with time on its own.

Manually remove with a toothbrush, scrubber, or some other implement if it bothers you.

Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

Never seen anything like this before but I knew someone on here had the answer. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer. I do plan to get a couple algae eaters so that should take care of it.

I did exactly like Tim said, and they never come back of course with my plecos in the tank.
