only stress they seem to have is when they get chased but they are all doing fine.. active and lively... when i give them rosies, they attack at night.. all rosies gone by morning lol... it's like a team effort... they dont mess with them during the day...

I just did an ammonia test on water from my faucet... I filled a container of cold water from the faucet, added like 3ml of water conditioner. my ammonia reading from treated water from the tap.. is .50.... so that tells me I probably do need to use the water purifier that i had bought to use in-line of my refill hose from the faucet to the aquarium....

One question I have is, how can you find out the oxygen level of your aquarium water?

I'd say that you are in the same boat that I am. Your water starts of testing positive for low levels of ammonia before fish have been anywhere near it and after it has been treated for chlorine and chloramines. This is apparently from the ammonia in the chloramines being converted to harmless ammonium but still showing up on the tests. This ammonia (actually ammonium) is not harming your fish, you can consider this as a zero level baseline measurement. If you are not seeing 2 or more ppm after a day or so, then your levels are not rising. If you're worried about oxygen levels then put an air stone in, you'll have to have plenty available then.
        DOWNSTAIRS display tanks:

37g - 3 Zebra Danios, 5 Red Serpae Tetras, Dwarf Flame Gourami and Red Tail Shark
10g - single male Betta (daughters responsibility)
        UPSTAIRS research/quarantine tanks:
10g - mosquitofish tank awaiting rebuild
20g - heavily fake planted housing 8 Dwarf Gourami RIP Blue, Flame and unnamed

Thanks... i was worried there for a while, but my fish seem to be normal, no gasping, gills look good.. just being territorial is all. I have a 14" airstone that hits the overflow from the HOB so it gets forced back down and all around... i did add some Microbe lift special blend to it and have had lights out for 3 days... will turn lights on when i get home from work. doing a leak test on my 30 gallon that i re-sealed and will move my little Oscar to it AFTER i cycle it. I have a heater and HOB for it... little Oscar will be happy in there... no big fish to push him around!
