  • Re: 125 Gallon Tank With Sump Setup

How is the Flounder getting along with the Discus?  I'd like to try one, but I also have a Black Ghost in the tank so it would truly be an experiment.  I have sand substrate, so I would think a Flouder would be happy.

The flounder would love the sand!! Once I seen one of the youngest Discus picking at something on the bottom and after two picks the Flounder promptly moved. That was about a day after I put them in the tank. They pay no attention to each other now. Walter had a pretty good size Flounder in his tank. It seems like his was about 6" long.

I don't mean to be rude, but it seems my Discus have shifted into poop overdrive! i need to Vacuum again today.

I do like how my water flow carries it all to the front of the tank.

LOL! I found a snail tonight! I wonder if the flouder are eating the small snails? You going to be on this side of town Friday?

Just thought I would give an update. I loaned my camera to a friend so no new pictures. :( I haven't really been testing the water either so not really allot to update on. The fish are doing great. I am still fighting the hair algae. I think I am going to try the Excel after all. I have to get a new PH probe first though. Funds are getting tighter. I have cruise to pay for and save spending money while we are there. We are going to the river this weekend to do some tubing. Are there any volunteers to stop by and feed my fish while we are gone? LOL

I'll feed your fish... just bring them up to Kingwood for me! I would honestly do it if you were closer.

Well the CO2 bottle went dry. I started slowly raising the PH getting ready for it to go empty. I made it to 6.9 then today there was a jump to 7.5!! The fish don't seem to mind. I will get the bottle filled Friday.

I called Praxair yesterday and they assured me they did not exchange the bottles. Bring your bottle we fill it and you take your bottle home. So I call this evening to make sure they were still open and the guy told me they exchange them. So now hear I sit near empty bottle in the truck and no where to fill it. I deal with vendors all day long and I am amazed at the amount of incompetence out there. I guess my tank will do with out CO2 until Friday. Really chaps my back side.

Thanks!! But I am tied up after work. I think it will be ok till Friday. I will just slowly bring the PH back down to 6.5 over the weekend. I do need to drop these pigs off this weekend. I think I am going to up my O cat population to around 10-15. They are totally uninterested in the bits or worms. The just want the algea. I should have some more trimmings in a week or so!  With the CO2 around 25-30ppm and plenty of light the plants are going crazy. I mean inches a day. I think I am going to go pick up a 72" 384w light this weekend. Hmmm If I built a canopy I cound put a total of 960 watts over my tank 7.6wpg! You think I would need welding goggles to enjoy my fish?  Making the fish where the glasses might be the hard part. LOL

Well some of my plants are getting small holes in the leaves. I also picked 3 very small snails out of the main tank. I guess they have finally hatched some!! So, now what to do? Any suggestions?

Do you know if the snails are causing the holes? Which plants have the holes? The swords? Are you particularly adverse to having a school of botias in oyur tank?

So many questions, so little time...
